We understand that being inundated with emails can be a drag so ECCA will send out emails once a week to lessen the amount of emails you receive from us. In Other News….

While our fight isn’t over, you can still sign our petition for beach access during the bird nesting season, which is April-August, and has deemed to be the most busiest months for beachgoers. In our neighboring communities along the shore, they have beach access during nesting season, and by right, so can we!

The Army Corps of Engineers (ACOE) contractor has begun work on the rock groins at Beach 39th and Beach 43rd. Access from the beach to the boardwalk will be closed between Beach 38th and Beach 44th. Their typical work schedule is 7am-3pm, Monday-Friday. Heavy truck traffic will be traversing the beach bringing stone and other material from Beach 19th to Beach 39th. Access from the boardwalk to the sand will be maintained between Beach 18th and Beach 36th, but pedestrians will have to cross the “haul road,” which could be deeply rutted. The contractor has been requested to grade out the ruts on Friday afternoon in order to allow easier/safer access over the weekends.

Access to the beach from the boardwalk has been reopened between Beach 44th-56th. As a pilot, NYC Parks has installed accessibility mats at Beach 44th, 49th, 52nd, and 56th to allow easier access from the boardwalk to the shoreline. Please exercise caution in this area as some of the dune faces are quite steep. Be aware of seabeach amaranth, a small annual plant that grows on the beach in this area; Biologists have marked off the plants with posts and string to keep them from being trampled or driven over.

How to Apply for Civil Service Exams

Through DCAS’s Online Application System (OASys), you can apply for and take certain exams online. This can be done on a computer and now also by using a smartphone or tablet. To apply in-person at one of our Computer-based Testing and Application Centers, schedule an appointment on OASys. 

Testing Centers are open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., excluding holidays.
