Greetings Neighbor!

Our November Civic Meeting was eventful and informational. We had a great discussion and exercise about Participatory Budgeting, hosted by Manuel Silva from FRANC. We want to especially thank Councilmember Selvena Brooks-Powers, Assemblywoman Stacey Phefer-Amato, NYC DOT Rep. Emanuel Evans, Dept Administrator of NYC Park Khalil Bratton and Ayodele Oliver, Director of Behavioral Health at St. John’s Episcopal Hospital. It was a long night but we are grateful for everyone who stayed and stuck it out with us.

Civic Update

As some of you know, the civic takes time off during the months of December and January. We will resume in the month of February of 2024 but our meetings will be quarterly at our new location: Arverne View Welcome Center/ Multi-Purpose Bldg at Beach 44th St. and Edgemere Avenue.

In addition to our meeting on November 6th, the civic met with Councilmember Brooks-Powers, L+M Developers, NYC DOT and HPD to discuss the timeline of the Arverne East Project and ways to alleviate traffic on Beach Channel Drive and Rockaway Freeway. Traffic lights will be adjusted and some stop signs will be installed, along with additional crossing guards.
